BetterSpades is a replica of the classic voxlap version of Ace of Spades, targeted at low-end systems. It runs on very old hardware back to OpenGL 1.1, with OpenGL ES support too, and can even run on embedded devices such as a Steam Link. The README says its performance is similar to or better than voxlap.
It works for Windows 98, Windows and Linux (macOS is also listed), and can be used from a separate folder or extracted over an existing Ace of Spades installation. Stable and nightly builds are provided.
