OpenXW is an open-source reimplementation of Star Wars: X-Wing for Windows, macOS and Linux that runs the original game data natively. It supports both the 1994 Collector's CD-ROM and the 1998 Windows release, and includes none of the original content: at least one complete installation is required.

With both editions installed, menus and cutscenes, flight simulation and music can be chosen independently.

Highlights

  • Recommended mix: 1994 menus and cutscenes with 1998 flight simulation and 3D assets
  • Adaptive iMUSE soundtrack from the 1994 edition
  • Either edition playable on its own
  • Original 1993 flight graphics and missions available from an extracted 1993 install with the B-Wing expansion
