The Reconstruction of ZZT is a reverse-engineered recreation of the source code of ZZT 3.2, the last official release of the 1991 DOS adventure and world-editor game by Tim Sweeney. The output executable is byte-for-byte identical to that release, so the code accurately represents the original engine's behavior. The aim is better preservation and accessibility of ZZT's worlds and community, and to enable new developments.
The README doubles as a FAQ: it suggests Zeta, a ZZT-dedicated emulator, or DOSBox for playing, the Museum of ZZT for finding worlds, and KevEdit for making them, and links a blog article on how the code was reconstructed. It builds on Windows and Linux with the original game's files.
