SuperMarioWorldRecomp statically recompiles Super Mario World into native C using the snesrecomp framework. It is part of the R.A.I.D. community, and the author says the recompilation is a byproduct of developing snesrecomp, so it is an in-development preview with rough edges rather than a finished port.
Every function of the 65816 main CPU code becomes generated C. The rest of the SNES, such as PPU, audio and DMA, runs through a C reimplementation of the hardware derived from LakeSnes. It runs on Windows and Linux and needs your own ROM.
Highlights
- Generated C for all main CPU code
- Hardware reimplemented in C, based on LakeSnes
- Per-game runtime, config and build glue
- Contributions and testing welcome
